It’s been a while since my last book for young ‘uns, and I know my daughter will be happy, for one, because she keeps asking me when she’ll be old enough to read Girl, Aloud (”in about five years” really doesn’t cut it with a six year old). Now available for pre-order from Amazon, these picture books, published by Parragon, will be available in the UK, US and Australia. I haven’t seen them since manuscript stage so the “sparkly surprise” really will be!

Josie, aged six, is a very particular little girl – as in, very particular about things going her way. She’s determined, occasionally bossy, loves competition, has left almost all of her babyness behind her but still has the odd tantrum when her high expectations are dashed (by anything from bad weather to her happy but troublesome little sister, Lily). But the great thing about Josie is that she never runs out of Big Ideas.

Editorial Review by BOMC2:

When a cheeky chicken calls Finley a lazybones, he decides to get a job to help out on the busy farm. But what’s a little piggy to do? Become a doctor, of course! Finley (a.k.a. Dr. Pig) soon discovers that treating patients takes a lot of patience. When he tries to bandage Cow’s hoof, he’s not very cooperative. And don’t even get Dr. Pig started on the chickens. Talk about peckish patients! Author Emily Gale perfectly captures the fun of playing pretend and the satisfaction of being yourself while Mark Marshall’s illustrations are just so darn cute. And, who knows, even though Say Ahhh! Finley Pig isn’t really about going to the doctor, it might just help you make your child’s next checkup that much more bearable!
