In celebration of my 1000th Tweet, and because it’s Friday, I’m giving away one copy of Girl, Aloud. All you need to do is leave a comment saying “Pick Me!” PLUS the song you would choose to sing in front of Simon Cowell if you were auditioning for The X Factor (that bit is just for fun). I will put all the entries into a special homemade Girl, Aloud competition-entry receptacle (project to keep children amused today) and draw one at random. This competition is open to ANYONE, ANYWHERE in the world. I’ll pick the winner next Friday (4th December). Please spread the word!
UPDATE! The competition will close at midday (Australian time) Friday 4th December.
WIN a copy of Girl, Aloud!

Pick me please!
I would sing Happy Birthday or Twinkle twinkle Little Star as any other song I would forget the words (not that standing up there wouldn’t be embarrassing enough, but getting up there AND forgetting the words… eesch).

Oooh, yay for the box of shiny pretty books!!! Pick ME, please!
I’d rather die than be humilated by Simon Cowell for the millions to watch, but if forced to or if I could actually sing, then I guess I’d go for something fun, probably by Girls Aloud, I quite like them … Maybe The Promise or Love Machine or Miss You, Bow Wow? Something catchy so people could have fun and sing also instead of laugh at me, hehe.

Me! Me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me (you get the idea)
As for what I’d sing, well, the question should be what wouldn’t I sing? Smack My B*tch Up by Prodigy, probably or Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n Roses. Are you well in with Mr C, then? Can you get me five minutes with him??

PLEASE ‘PICK ME’!
And the song….well whatever I sing will be tuneless so why not be adventurous: Leona Lewis version of ‘Run’. Simon wil be…uh…bowled over.
PS love the design of this site Emily; I’ve previously only visited your blog but will now add this site to my reading list.

PICK ME! PICK ME!
Um….. it would probably be ‘Evergreen’ the Barbra Streisand song – think I’ve sung it more than any other song (in my head in my life in my shower).
Oh god, but that box of books looks good enough to swim in – you must be SSssooo proud!

Pick me!
Easy….Shakespeare’s Sister – Stay. Completely out of my range and very dramatic, it’s sure to get a camera worthy comment and decimate my fragile ego. Then there’s the whole thing about me not being able to sing….oh well, that hasn’t stopped many.

pick me
i would choose silence is golden by The Tremeloes
because thats what Simon Cowell would be thinking,
once i open my mouth

Me! Me! Me! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!
I would never ever in million squillion billion years go on X Factor but if forced to choose a song, I’d go with Muse (Hysteria, I reckon) so that I could compensate for my poor singing with some ace air guitar. Oh yes.

Pick me, Missus!
Ooh, i would definitely sing Captain Sensible’s Happy Talk – just to see Simon’s face.
God, i love that song.
Congrats on the book, Emily! Look forward to seeing you soon on SW.

… ooooh forgot the song. What song could I sing? I don’t sing very well you know… well my husband says I’ve a lovely voice, but he would…. Only it’s a very soft one – voice that is – and I don’t know if it would reach all the way to the judges….
One two three O’Leary? Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep? Lilly the Pink? Ten green bottles?
No I know – The Song of Bernadette by Leonard Cohen – because it is a lovely song and very tricky vocally – so if I’m going to bomb it should be BIGTIME!!
December 3, 2009 at 10:48 pm
Pick Me!
I’d sing ‘Bad Romance’, by Lady Gaga. Since I’d get boo’ed anyway by Simon, may as well sing a fun song Lol
December 3, 2009 at 10:55 pm
“Pick Me!” ..Please… manners ;o)
I’d sing ‘If I were a rich man diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle dum’ from Fiddler on the Roof hee hee. I’d even don a beard and flat cap to look the part… not to hide my embarrassment at all you understand!
Thanks!

December 3, 2009 at 11:51 pm

Um, I’d sing Raining Men, since it’s my karaoke classic.
